Improving the energy efficiency of mountain tourist accommodations

Start date: 08/01/2025
End date: 28/02/2025

The program for the energy upgrade of mountainous tourist accommodations has a budget of 10 million euros and opened (8/1) for application submissions. The 10% of its budget is exclusively allocated to traditional-listed buildings (1 million euros), while the remaining 90% (9 million euros) is allocated to all other buildings of mountainous tourist accommodations.

The purpose of the Program is to increase the energy efficiency of buildings (mountainous tourist accommodations) and their operations, in line with the goals set in the National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP), save financial resources by reducing primary energy consumption, and reduce carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions.

The program aims to achieve cumulative energy and environmental results through the submitted and subsidized investment plans. Specifically, each investment plan must achieve:

  • At least a 30% reduction in primary energy consumption compared to the state before the investment.
  • At least a 30% reduction in carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions.

Through the Program, businesses participating will receive funding for upgrading building infrastructure through interventions such as:

  • The building envelope.
  • Upgrading internal electrical installations.
  • Upgrading cooling/heating systems.
  • Upgrading or integrating new materials.

Eligible are all mountainous tourist accommodations, regardless of size. The intensity of the subsidy depends on the size of the business submitting the application and is set for the main eligible expenses at a rate of 30% for large enterprises, 40% for medium enterprises, and 50% for small enterprises. The maximum subsidy per beneficiary is up to €80,000.

The eligible expenses of the program are categorized into two groups:

  1. Expenses for the implementation of energy upgrade interventions:
  • These refer to the total investment costs directly associated with the building's energy upgrade.
  1. Other supporting expenses:
  • These refer to services necessary for the submission, monitoring, and verification of the application. Specifically, they include:
  • Energy Inspector Services.
  • Implementation and Certification of Energy Management Systems.
  • Costs for Administrative and Application Management Consultants.
